Dear Peter, Thank you very much for your message. The title of my book seems to be misleading. The book contains a detailed survey on over 20 historic computers (with many comparative tables), including the machines from Atanasoff, Stibitz, Aiken, Mauchly/Eckert, Flowers (Colossus), Turing, von Neumann, Zuse as well as the devices of the universities of Cambridge, Manchester, MIT, IBM, Remington, US Bureau of Standards, etc. Moreover, many other relay and electronic machines are mentioned. The computer was independently invented in three countries (USA, Britain, Germany). Therefore there are at least three inventors... Preper Eckert, who conceived and led in the development of the ENIAC. It deals with Konrad Zuse, Charles Babbage, Alan Turing and John von Neumann, and includes a world-wide survey on the early computers (mainly USA, Britain, Germany, Switzerland). The world-wide bibliography mentions over 500 publications. A comprehensive chapter treats the question: "Who invented the computer?"
