Re: [SIGCIS-Members] Our "Women in Computing" book display
Hi Peter: Apologies for the delayed reply. I don’t have an exact list of the books currently in our display. Instead, I have the list of books, with their (UK) prices, which were sought for the display initially, not all of which could in the event be obtained. A number of colleagues on SIGCIS helped us decide what to include in this list - and what to exclude! Brian, That's a great list. About Ada, there was also: @book{Baum-bio, title = {{The Calculating Passion of Ada Byron}}, author = {Baum, Joan}, year = {1986}, publisher = {{Archon Books}}, place = {{Hamden, CT, USA}}, isbn = {0-208-02119-1} } There's also quite a bit about Ada's collaboration with Babbage in Doris Langley Moore's "Ada, Countess of Lovelace", 1977, but nothing very technical. Hello all, In case of interest, my own book "Artifacts: an Archaeologist's Year in Silicon Valley" (MIT Press) marks its 25th anniversary this year. I include Ada Lovelace - I researched her papers at the Bodleian Library, Oxford in 2000. To mark the 25th I am set to speak at the VCF Vintage Computer Festival at the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley this aummer. Please excuse this promo as an advance reboot. Best wishes, Christine On Wed, 4 Feb 2026 at 20:00, Brian E Carpenter via Members < members@lists.sigcis.org> wrote:
