Some years ago _Byte_ ran a cover story with the headline “Is UNIX Dead?” I recall doing a double-take as I walked past the newsstand – the obvious connection was to the famous 1966 _Time_ magazine headline “Is God Dead?” As you say Tom, the answer was “no” and “no.”(Byte is dead, however.) (Although the real question surely is “Is UNIX shaped by racism?”)
