Thanks, Tom, for this clarification. Some years ago _Byte_ ran a cover story with the headline “Is UNIX Dead?” I recall doing a double-take as I walked past the newsstand – the obvious connection was to the famous 1966 _Time_ magazine headline “Is God Dead?” As you say Tom, the answer was “no” and “no.”(Byte is dead, however.)

The headline “Is UNIX Racist” reminds me of the journalistic maxim that the answer to any question posed in a headline is “no.” Otherwise they’d run it without he question mark. (Although the real question surely is “Is UNIX shaped by racism?”)
