Hi Pierre, Thanks for asking this question!

Hi Eric, if you do plan to include the history of personal computing beyond
North America, may I point you to my paper on the history of personal computing in India, published in the Annals? (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/6880252)

Hi Eric,
Do you consider including the history of personal computing beyond North America – say, from Europe to Taiwan and the Soviet empire ?
Best,
Pierre

Objet: [SIGCIS-Members] Documentary Project on History of Personal Computing

Hi all,

Please forgive me if this message is inappropriate for the list. I am hoping some members will be interested in the following project.

For the past year and a half I have been working on a team that is developing a documentary<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kickstarter.com%2Fprojects%2Fmessagenotunderstood%2Fmessage-not-understood%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cramesh.subramanian%40quinnipiac.edu%7C5fd0798de70d4bf06dc108d86a9c562d%7C0940985869fb4de9987990db22b52eaf%7C0%7C1%7C637376567008513738&sdata=I3gry7hLLrxADDOT%2FjsDJRlEassxDHYjhs8UbGeiass%3D&reserved=0> on the history of personal computing. Our goal is to interview the very people who laid the foundations for personal computing while they are still with us, learning about their original visions and getting their take on the present. In this sense it is both an aspiring feature length documentary project but also an endeavor in oral history and posterity.

Last fall we were able to shoot our first three interviews. We used these to make a short teaser<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fvimeo.com%2F429045920&data=02%7C01%7Cramesh.subramanian%40quinnipiac.edu%7C5fd0798de70d4bf06dc108d86a9c562d%7C0940985869fb4de9987990db22b52eaf%7C0%7C1%7C637376567008523734&sdata=93GSnBfxzC9hQZCnPju04z4CqLcPZleZ%2FhXeiXNGhEM%3D&reserved=0>, with the idea it could be used to raise funds for future rounds of interviews. That said, we are currently in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kickstarter.com%2Fprojects%2Fmessagenotunderstood%2Fmessage-not-understood%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cramesh.subramanian%40quinnipiac.edu%7C5fd0798de70d4bf06dc108d86a9c562d%7C0940985869fb4de9987990db22b52eaf%7C0%7C1%7C637376567008523734&sdata=LUyPZCPC9SFhUN9IKIqy%2F%2FwshtmkfPXO2Ny6a4%2BMg1o%3D&reserved=0> to get the second round funded. Thanks!
