I got a query from a journalist about the origins of the Dark Web. I don’t really know what was going on before Sealand and Tor in the early 2000s. Anyone working on this?

Not working on it, but if a reporter asked me what came before the Dark Web then I'd probably explain about file-sharing sites of the 1990s, USENET before that, and BBSs before those.
