Airtable is interested in hosting an historian to give them an informal talk about the history of databases
Dear All, I had a very nice message from the young company Airtable recently. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airtable) They would be quite interested in hosting an historian of computing at their offices in San Francisco for an informal talk and discussion about the history of databases. I was pleased to learn that there are several history buffs in the firm, and they’d welcome the chance to learn more about the history of the field in which they are engaged. If this fits the interests of anyone on the list, you could contact them directly through Peter Berkowitz here: peter@airtable.com If anyone were available on August 19th, they thought it could be a nice way to mark the birthday of Edgar Codd (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_F._Codd) Best wishes, David +++++++++++++++ David C.
