"The Hunger Games" Exposes the Myth of Technological Progress
Hi all, The article that Janet's reporter contact was writing has been posted. Jolie, Eden, Bernie and I all offered input--nice to see a reporter talking to so many historians of technology for perspective! http://www.innovationnewsdaily.com/987-hunger-games-technologies-progress.ht... Thanks, Marie! This journalist contacted me out of the blue and I didn't have time to respond, but I thought it might be a good chance to get some more historians' voices out there, especially after the whole Washington Post "who invented email" debacle. best, Janet On Mar 23, 2012, at 2:02 PM, Marie Hicks wrote:

My thoughts exactly, Janet--thanks for passing it along to all of us! Marie

It is nice to finally see a decent piece of journalism being picked up and repeated! I only just noticed that Jeremy Hsu, the author of the original article, is a graduate of the History & Sociology of Science department at the University of Pennsylvania and a former student of mine. See, there is a role for undergraduate programs in the history of science and technology! -Nathan -- Nathan Ensmenger School of Information University of Texas at Austin www.ischool.utexas.edu/~nathan/
