If anyone's interested, I just did a couple of interviews with NPR reporters on the subject of women in computing. One should air on Monday (Oct 6) during Morning Edition, in a piece by Laura Sydell. (No idea if I'll get more than a soundbite.) The other is part of a podcast by Steve Henn for Planet Money (http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/); not sure when that will be posted.

So, why the interest in this topic all of a sudden? Turns out that Walter Isaacson, who wrote the best-selling bio of Steve Jobs, has a book coming out in a few days called "The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution." I haven't had a chance to see it yet--any SIGCIS folks get an advance copy?--but evidently he devotes some attention to women in computing.  Below is a link to an excerpt that was published in Fortune; the source list at the end shows he is aware of our collective work.

On a related note, I see that Kathy Kleiman finally finished her film on the ENIAC women (a few months ago), which had been in the works for years. If anyone has seen that, a review posted to this list would be welcome.
