Hi all,

I am looking for any studies or surveys that look at the specific uses of computing (applications, hardware, and in particular anything "custom") across scientific fields, broadly defined. By "scientific" here I mean everything from physics to archaeology to psychology. Aside from a desire to familiarize myself with such literature, I'm also looking to form a kind of understanding of the computing cultures within or even across some of these disciplines, especially how these cultures contrast with the uses of computing in the wider commercial world.
