<p class="MsoNormal">Colleagues in the Boston area may be interested in a special presentation we are holding on Monday, noon-1 pm at the new MIT Museum.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dr. Jochen Viehoff, director of the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, will be giving a talk and demonstrating the new working replica of Claude Shannon’s famous Theseus maze. The construction of this replica has been a multi-year project between
HNF and the MIT Museum. The effort has been challenging but rewarding, offering a variety of interesting insights about Shannon. We hope that regular demonstrations in conjunction with a small display of Shannon artifacts will stimulate renewed interest in
this fascinating device that some believe may be one of the earliest examples of machine learning. (I’m counting on the members of SIGCIS to fully vet such a claim!)<o:p></o:p></p>
