information. The decrypts are credited with shortening the war and saving countless lives.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div>

Among the veterans was O’Connell’s mother Betty, who was one of the first operators of Colossus, the computer that helped break the cipher.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div>
