These were conducted by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), which, if you haven’t heard of them before, have, since 1951, been a clearinghouse (via conferences, journals and publications) for technical information on computing, mathematics and the applications thereof. As they say in their mission statement: “A<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); orphans: 2; widows: 2;"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">pplied mathematics, in partnership with computational science, is essential in solving many real-world problems.
