Hello, all.

I wanted to inform you of an event on Fri, Dec. 8, 10am-Noon and 1-4pm PST
(18:00-20:00 & 21:00-00:00 UTC) during which former and current Lucasfilm
and Pixar employees will describe *The Development of RenderMan® for
Photorealistic Graphics, 1981-1988*. Included will be the dedication
of an IEEE
Milestone
<https://ieeemilestones.ethw.org/Milestone-Proposal:The_Development_of_RenderMan%C2%AE_for_Photorealistic_Graphics>
bearing
that title.

The event will include a rich history of the progression of computer
graphics (CG) technology. Earlier CG history is documented for an IEEE
Milestone dedicated this past March for the inventive CG techniques that
came out of the Univ. of Utah from 1965-1978
<https://ethw.org/Milestones:Development_of_Computer_Graphics_and_Visualization_Techniques,_1965-1978>
.

This event will be live-streamed here
<https://ieeetv.ieee.org/live-events/RenderMan> from the Steve Jobs Theater
on the Pixar campus in Emeryville, CA USA. If you cannot watch it at that
time, sign up on that site to receive word back re: when it's been archived
for later viewing.
