Does the phone given by Dr. Who to Rose Tyler to call him through space and time count? He altered her mobile phone for that purpose, and she dubbed it her "superphone." Subsequent friends of The Doctor also had their mobiles upgraded to "superphone" abilities. The "superphone" was used as a plot device on several occasions. I don't think I've seen any conversation about it.
