Dear SIGCIS,
Also for the colleagues who have
access to the ongoing virtual SHOT conference: Matthew Jones (author of a
wonderful history of computing in the mechanical era --
https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/R/bo24836963.html) and
myself are organizing a panel to invite attention to the long history of
presenting machines as capable of artificial intelligence -- a history
reaching back to the mechanical and electrical era of historical
