Hard to believe but in August 1981 IBM introduced its PC and along came all
those Charlie Chaplin advertisements.  The IEEE just published a short
history of the PC extracted from my history book, *IBM.  *I thought it
might be of some interest to my fellow colleagues in SIGCIS.
