Some of you will have seen issue 3 of 2018 of the Annals of the History 
of Computing on the history of desktop publishing.  And a few of you may 
have read my interview with Charles Bigelow who has lived and worked 
through much of the digital type revolution. There is a parallel

While TeX and LaTeX are just a tiny corner of the computing world, the 
TUG website (tug.org) does have some content that goes beyond TeX and 
may be useful for people researching the digital typography and DTP area 
of computing history;

- the group's journal (http://tug.org/tugboat/contents.html) is now open 
access for all but the most recently published issue; look at book 
reviews, typography, etc., in the category list for high probability of 
finding topics closer to computing history.

- the group's interview series (http://tug.org/interviews/) naturally 
looks backward (i.e., history); also there are lots of links to 
interviews of Knuth (http://tug.org/interviews/#knuth).

By the way, Knuth has produced another massive computing/artistic effort 
outside the volumes of The Art of Computer Programming:
