There are some books on this topic.  A very important early Silicon Valley
marketeer was Regis McKenna, and his books are listed here

books are available via www.abebooks.com

Here is a 1977 Apple ][ ad that ran before the floppy drive was made
available in 1978, and it shows some definite sex-bias: http://ethw.org/
